Drink: Collective Arts Prophets & Nomads Gose
Source: Collective Arts Brewing Ltd., Hamilton, Ontario
Size: 473 mL tallboy
Lest we forget, a gose is simply an ale with half of its malt being wheat, the rest, good old barley. Collective Arts is the latest craft brewery to get in on the craze, and have added a touch of coriander and Himalayan salt to the brew.
Cloudy lemon in colour, this ale pours with minimal to no head, with gentle but healthy carbonation.
Salt and malt on the nose, though light on both. No strong hops nose, though a trace of the slightly sour, slightly peppery Saaz hops—the hops used in pilsners. (This ale comes from two row barley, pilsner, and wheat malts.)
Lively citrus acidity and taste, with a sweet and sour combo that is luscious and refreshing.
A gentle finish that leaves you ready for the second mouthful—or pint.
