From Ontario’s first craft brewery, the Waterloo Dark is a seriously dark lager—think cola—with ample, frothy head.

The sassiness of black molasses hits your nose first, with a hint of bitter cocoa powder and burnt toast.

Bitter black coffee bite on the palate, with low citrus tang underneath.

A gentle finish with lingering molasses-malt.

Pair with barbecue or other sweet and savoury items, or bust out when Guinness is getting boring—or you want a step up from the PC Black Lager. But not too classy—just malty.

Hoochsavvy Grade: B+
